Tony's Ice Teas

Summer’s here and so are her long, hot, fun filled days with beaming rays of glorious sunshine, which blaze down upon our hat tops and flip-flops.

But even if the summer sun gets us a little too warm, never fear! Tony’s Ice Tea Truck is near!

Tony’s ice tea is the best! It’s made with teas from all around the world...Kenya, Sri Lanka, China, India and Indonesia just to name a few delightful places. And today’s brews are from two of Tony’s favorite islands in Indonesia, Java and Sumatra. These teas are soft and subtle so they are wonderful for blending in some marvelous flavors, as Tony has done with his Lemon Yum and Berry Tea.  Tony looks for the freshest lemons to enhance his Lemon Yum tea and in his Berry Tea you’ll find a delicious mixture of raspberries, blueberries and mulberries, making these teas some of the most satisfying teas around. Then there is his Black Tea which is made with some of the finest raw sugar. And if sugars not your thing...no worries, Tony has Black Tea without sugar too.

So, if you’re in need of a glorious glass of ice cold tea, stop on by and fill up a glass, pitcher or even a gallon jug to take home and share. You can’t miss Tony’s green tea colored truck with it’s handmade wooden shutters. Also give a shout out to Meyer Lemon, he’s the cool looking lemon usually enjoying a glass of Tony’s tea and waving at you and me.

A Day with Dad

The sun is setting
The front of the boat is listing
It has been a great day of fishing

We follow the golden rule
All the little guys
Back to the pool

Dragonflies diving and dipping all around
Because they know the king fisherman is here
No need for his crown

Days spent on the lake with dad are the best
I may not catch a trophy fish
And I may need some rest

But there is no other place I’d rather be
Then out on the lake
Just dad and me

Happy Father’s Day

Pudgey Chickadee

One cold wintry morning after having made my family breakfast, I noticed that there was a bit of leftover toast and crumbs. So, I decided I would tear the rest of the toast into tiny pieces to be  tossed out onto the snowy ground for the little creature that might be wanting some extra nutrition.

Tugging my bathrobe tight around my waist, I opened the sliding glass door and stepped out into the chill of the January day. As I threw the toast into the air a small banditry of Chickadees fluttered about and landed to feast upon the tiny morsels that now laid before them on the ground. They quickly pecked at all the crumbs, capturing them before they sank into the snow.

After their feast the Chickadees’ flew up into a twisted, leafless, old plum tree that swayed in the winter’s wind above the area where all the crumbs had been picked clean. I watched them as they bounced from branch to branch, all the while singing a sweet song of thanks to me.

While I watched them, I noticed one little Chickadee that seemed to be slightly bigger around the middle than the rest, who had the markings of a Chestnut-backed Chickadee, he also seemed to be incharge. He would chatter at the others and make his presence known, sometimes bumping them with his pudgy belly, sending them along as he continued to chatter out his commanding song. My daughter and I named him “Pudgey!”

That winter I continued to toss the morning toast out to my little Chickadee friends and every morning they’d feast happily then sing me sweet songs of thanks.

Soon the weather turned warmer, the trees, plants and flowers began to bloom, little bugs of spring began to dance about in the air and my morning feedings slowly tapered off.

One beautiful, sunny, spring morning I was standing at the kitchen sink washing up the breakfast dishes, when I heard a ruckus at the sliding glass door. So I peeked up to see what was the matter and there fluttering his wings as if to be knocking on the door, was Pudgey. He was chattering up a storm, as if he were reprimanding me for not remembering to feed him and his fellow friends. A feeling of sad remiss flooded over me as I turned to see if there were any toast crumbs leftover, luckily there was!

Pudgey and his friends ate well that morning and a few more mornings after that. The days continued to warm and drift into summer, Pudgey and his friends moved on to enjoy the beauty of the summer season as did myself and my family.

One afternoon as I was enjoying a walk, I passed by a lovely Wild Alaskan Rose bush that was in full bloom, and sitting on one of the branches was a Chestnut-backed Chickadee with a pudgy little belly and a chattering song. “Pudgey!” Yes! It was Pudgey himself, I was sure. Realizing that my pockets were empty of crumbs, Pudgey moved along, but not before singing me a beautiful summer song....

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother’s Day! Oh I do hope some bunnies find you and give you all the love you deserve on this very special day.

Maybe they’ll take you away for a picnic in the yard and feed you full with lovely vegetables.

Maybe they’ll place flowers in your hair, or pick you some beautiful flowers to share.

Maybe there will be a surprise wrapped up in sunshine yellow paper with a gorgeous green bow.

Maybe these bunnies will dance with you and spin you around, filling your soul with laughter till you all tumble to the ground.

Oh the joys and love that come to a mother’s heart when she’s with her children...just being together is all that she needs. May the love she feels on this day never part….

Roll and Grind

April has come and is almost gone, but there’s one wonderful thing about April that will linger on and that would be Anthony’s sunshine yellow truck, filled with delicious rolls and flavorful grinds a plenty.

Anthony enjoys traveling the world seeking out the best beans and spices for his little business. This month he is featuring two coffee blends from beans he has roasted and ground himself. The first is his “Rainy Day” blend, made from some coffee beans he chose when on a trip to South America. These beans were still in their most delicate state of a small cherry growing on the tree when he first found them and placed his order.  Inside each cherry you will find two beans, the cherry is also called a peaberry. This blend of beans comes from Peru and has a light body to it and exhibits a vanilla-nut sweetness, it is said to have a very unique taste which makes for a perfect cup of “Rainy Day” coffee. Anthony’s cup of “Storm” is a blend of coffee beans also purchased on his trip to South America. The “Storm” blend is made from Brazilian coffee beans which have a heavy body, low acidity, mild sweetness with some notes of chocolate and spices.

If coffee isn’t your thing then have a cup of “Thunder-Bolt” to get yourself rolling. This is Anthony’s specialty of ground cocoa from...you guessed it...South America! This cup of delicious cocoa also comes from Peru. Peru is one of the world’s largest organic cocoa producers. Organic, sustainably grown, fair trade and kosher are all top priorities on Anthony’s list. You will also find a dash of golden-brown Ceylon cinnamon topping off your cup of “Thunder-Bolt” cocoa. This flavor filled treasure comes from Sri Lanka which was once known as Ceylon, just one more wonderful find of Anthony’s to round out some of his spices and grinds.

So if you’re in the mood for an April sunrise adventure, head over to Anthony’s Roll and Grind; while you’re at it stop by and say hi to Cinndy-roll and grab one of Anthony’s classic cinnamon rolls made with the sweet aromatic Ceylon cinnamon, it will go great with your cup of grind. Anthony is a champion bread maker who has channeled his bread baking skills into rolls. But that’s a story for another day….

A cow for Tay

Okay who wants a cow?

My daughter wants a cow and not just any cow. No, my daughter wants a Highland Cow or as the Scots say, “Heilan Coo!”

A Highland Cow is big, shaggy, has horns, longhorns because they are descendants of the Hamitic Longhorn and has red hair, just like my Tay. That must be the connection...red hair...and lots of it! Some of these cows can be found in shaggy black colors too, but whatever you do don’t tell my Tay or she’ll want a black one too!

I hear that in 1954 Queen Elizabeth had ordered Highland cattle to be kept at Balmoral Castle and to this very day they still roam the lovely green pastures while filling their tummies with delicious sweet grass.

Well I’m not a queen and I most certainly don’t have a large pasture for cattle to graze in, so I did the next best thing I could for my Tay. I drew her a Highland Cow. I sure hope she likes it. Maybe it will hold her over until I get the chance to acquire a castle and large grazing fields for her and her cow.

But if I know Tay… give her a day and she’ll have found one more animal she has fallen in love with. Maybe I should draw a farm and just fill it with all the animals her heart desires….

Governor Tucker Turtle

Sitting up high in the Easter morning sky, shines the luminous sun, looking just like a sunny side up egg as it floats along behind a pillowy cloud. Its golden rays of light bring with it an awakening to all the little creatures in the life filled pond down below.

Bobbing joyfully along in the sunshine are colorful butterflies and dragonflies...they can be seen dancing in and out of the cattails without a single care. But today they are accompanying Governor Tucker Turtle as she waves her Easter banner high.

Governor Tucker Turtle has been very busy with many important duties. She just finished having a meeting with Mayor Mole and all the top turtles and toads yesterday. There were many concerns to be addressed about the health and welfare of Primrose Pond. One of the main issues on the docket yesterday was Primrose Ponds water quality, because keeping the waters as healthy as possible is of great importance to the pond’s community. Why just the other day Mr. Blue Heron got one of his legs caught on a bicycle tire that someone had tossed into the pond without even a thought as to how it might affect the inhabitants who live there. If it hadn’t been for Old Tom Toad, who’d been out catching his dinner that day, Mr. Blue Heron would have been stuck for hours with that rotting bicycle tire wrapped around his leg. Yes, there is much to do when you’re the Governor.

But today is a time to celebrate! So that’s why Governor Tucker Turtle is dressed up in her Easter best and leading the Easter parade...she has made sure that all the day’s details have been taken care of with E.B. the Easter Bunny. Soon the Primrose Pond Easter Egg Hunt will be on. All the eggs have been hidden and every happy critter can hardly wait to race around the pond filling their Lily baskets with all the brightly colored eggs.

May your Easter be bright and beautiful. And may your family and friends all be healthy and blessed with the gifts of this Easter season….

This piece is dedicated to all the Governors, Mayors, Community Leaders and Essential Workers who do so much for us now and always...no matter how great or small the task may seem...we truly appreciate you!

Cherry Blossoms

Spumoni mouse has found the perfect spot inside of a blossoming cherry tree. She’s enjoying all the billowing, pink, tender, beauty of spring, while filling her tiny lungs with the blossoms, light, sweet fragrance.

There is no other powder-puff-pink place more beautiful to me...then to be sitting up high in a cherry blossom tree.

Her branches, swaying, in the soft spring winds of the day, as pink fairy wing petals let loose and drift gently away.

For a moment in time you’re captured in her beautiful, whirling, fluttering, pink snow, as the birds sing out softly to all the creatures below, “Come dance with us at the ‘Powder-Puff-Pink’ ball. Hurry! This moment will not last...if you stall.”

There is no other powder-puff-pink place that I’d like to be, than tucked up high in the arms of a cherry blossom tree.

May you find yourself in the happiness of a blossoming cherry tree, floating away on her soft powder-puff-pink petals….

Rolling Scone

Sun’s shining. Birds singing. Rainbows rising. Kites flying.

It must be the perfect time of day for a delicious scone...and who better to get your morning scones from then Sally and her food truck the “Rolling Scone!”

The smell of warm scones drifting out into the air is delightful. Today’s special must be orange-cranberry, because I can smell the wonderful, tangy, sweetness as it dances about my nose, beckoning me over for a tasty treat or two.

Inside Sally’s “Rolling Scone” truck you’ll find many bags of freshly made scones for the taking. I, myself, will be getting a couple bags to take home, because one bag never does last the whole day...and what would four o’clock tea be without a scone for me.

Sally makes many different types of scones, cranberry, orange-cranberry, raisin, blueberry, raspberry, lemon, lemon-poppy seed, cherry-vanilla-almond, the list just goes on and on. But, her all time specialty scones are...her lavender scones and lemon-lavender scones! Oh yes! Sally’s “Rolling Scone” truck is scone heaven! And while you’re there getting a lovely bag of scones don’t forget to ask Sally for some of her homemade clotted cream and lemon curd, or if you like homemade raspberry freezer jam, she has that too! Sally keeps these tempting treats tucked away in a small refrigerator made just for the “Rolling Scone” food truck.

So don’t miss out if you see Sally’s scone truck rolling your way, it will be the best treat you’ll have to eat. Tell her Tina sent you!

Adara Spring

Slowly the butter warm, first, day of spring, rises. The sun’s rosie-peach rays melt away the dew of the morn, releasing the icy creeks and rivers from winter’s frozen storm. Little seeds in the earth raise their tiny moist faces, smiling at springs, radiant, morning light.

Waking, with a much needed stretch, from her long winter’s nap, is Adara Spring. Adara has been gently tucked away in a beautiful Snowdrop Violet all winter long. Can you imagine sleeping in a violet? Every breath taken is filled with the soft, sweet, scent of floral perfume. How glorious!

Adara stretches her tiny body into the morning’s warm rays, while colorful, friendly butterflies greet her with good morning whispers that float into the air as earthly creatures wiggle about their way. Today will be very busy for her.  She will start her day making a list, filling it with all her spring duties, while she sips a fragrant cup of lemon-raspberry tea...the perfect pick me up for a sleepy fairy.

Soon she will flutter her wings softly, unraveling them up into the air. Adara will dance about with ribbons of rainbows, unfurling them high up into the spring sky...making for a most magical first day of spring.

With her sweet, morning, spring songs, she will beckon the clouds to weep and the sun to shine bright, together they will make her rainbow ribbons cast out the most wondrous sight...waking all the earth’s creatures to join her in song. While morning, spring breezes float along, they’ll touch all the wind chimes, enticing them to wake and sing along with Adara and her sweet melodic spring song.

After Adara has awakened the spring morning skies, she will call to other small critters to take to the air. One must not sleep now that Adara Spring is here. There are flowers to be fed, birds to be seen, and rainbows of plenty with their colorful glow, beaming from above to the earth down below.

As the earth wakes from her crisp winter’s dream, Adara moves on to her next task of the day, there’s so much to be done before the first day of spring fades away.

Happy Spring Solstice...may Adara Spring greet you with her ribbons of rainbows and song, bringing you happiness all spring long….

Top O The Mornin To Ya! Calls out Fintan Fairy.

Fintan has stopped to take a rest from his early morning delivery of coins. He has so many deliveries to make this morning before all the Saint Patrick’s Day festivities begin. He will be leaving a wonderful piece of gold for some un-expecting soul who has done a good deed without the expectation of anything in return. And for those who’ve given so much of their heart to helping others...they will be receiving a big heart of gold.

By the looks of that pot of gold, Fintan most certainly has his work cut out for him this morning, but before he tackles more work, he’s stopped to enjoy a refreshing glass of tangy, green apple cider and some warm Irish soda bread with raisins and soft honey butter. Oh, it looks delicious!

A little raccoon must smell the soda bread and is looking hopeful for a crumb or two.

Soon Fintan will be fluttering his way off to another golden delivery...maybe he’ll be stopping by your home with a golden coin for you too, making for an extra special Saint Patrick’s Day.

So keep an eye out for beautiful rainbows, because everywhere you see a rainbow there is bound to be a fairy and with that fairy there may just be a heart of gold.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day….

March and Llywelyn

March has arrived and with her...her Lion Llywelyn. Will March keep him tame, or will she let him romp about, scattering the season with storms that cause us chaos?

As we know, March will be busy herself, looking for the little spring lamb that has been tucked away during winter’s cold dark days and frightfully, fierce, frosty nights.

March will gently flutter her grass-green wings, conjuring up soft, waking, Celtic melodies of the season, while the whispering warm winds of her voice call out softly to the Lamb of Spring.

The songs of March will quickly travel across the cool dewy earth, in hopes that the lamb will feel her melodic chants of warmth, giving strength to the Spring Lamb’s sleepy, feeble legs.

Yes! March must, most certainly find the Lamb of Spring or we will continue to feel the cooler days of this season as Llywelyn paces the earth, scanning it with his moss green eyes, wondering where his small companion of spring has gone to...which may bring with him a great restlessness, causing us more turbulence in the season then we’d like to bear.

Oh, let’s hope March finds our little Lamb of Spring and if you happen to find her first, please let March and Llywelyn know so the flowers of spring can lift their tender heads up out of the dark cool earth and unravel their soft green leaves to capture the mornings mild, sunny rays, without any worries of Llywelyn’s roaring wrath….

Rozzi Snow is On The Go

Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!

I hear the sound of a Snow Soul making their way through the fluffy white mounds of snow.

It’s Rozzi! I haven’t seen her for awhile. She must have been very busy with all her holiday orders. If I know Rozzi, she’s been happily filling orders all over the Snow Planet. Last time I looked at her “Bobble and Squeak” snow fashionable site...she had loaded a tremendous amount of beautiful, cozy, snug-lies for all the Snow Souls who are in need of something snow fashionable to wear or to share.

Just take a look at her wonderful snow attire. I love her aubergine barrette cap, neck cowl, mittens and boots. They all go so well with her icy ocean blue coat. Yes, she looks absolutely snow fashionable in all her darling snow knitted attire. And look at her Snow Kitten, Chilly...she is sporting a little “Kitten Cowl.” Oh, that Rozzi is so clever, making knitted items for all the snow pets who bound about in the snowy weather!

It would seem that Rozzi has been to the knitting shop in Snow-Blossom’s village. She must be stocking up for her next round of spring snow knitted designs. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for all of us Snow Souls. Just the other day I received a beautiful aubergine “Chunky Twist” headband that will give the perfect coverage for my Snow Soul ears...not to mention how cute I’ll look in it too!

I see that Rozzi has made a new friend...Robin Redbreast. It would seem that Robin likes the beautiful Marina Wool Red, because she has pulled it from Rozzi’s skein to feather her spring snow nest.

So remember if you are in need of a spring snow snugly, hit up Rozzi Snow soon...I can already hear her knitting needles clickety-clacking away….

J.P. Love

Do you hear that? The sound of magical computer keys tapping out a new found story of hope and love.

J.P. short for Joy Peace, is one very inspirational fairy...she will sit at her tiny fairy desk for hours, building a world of love, to share with all who need a happy ending. And let’s face it, we could all use more love in our lives and wonderful happy endings to our exhaustive days.

Some say that J.P. has the biggest heart in all the Fairy Kingdom. She sends love out to all she touches with her words and kind actions. She is always helping out causes that may be in need of some extra special touches of love. Why, just the other day she was seen taking a huge batch of freshly baked shortbread cookies (heart shaped of course, sprinkled with sugar sweet love) to the Senior Fairies Center. She visits every month to share her beautiful stories of love and compassion. This month is her favorite month to visit, because February is the month of love and that is most certainly her specialty.

J.P. is busy typing out some wonderful notes of love on her computer. Today is her favorite day of the year. That’s right! It’s Valentine’s Day. She will send out all her notes of love, making sure to reach every little fairy who is special to her heart.

Sitting at her feet you will find her pup M.P. short for More Peace. M.P. is always following J.P. wherever she goes. I guess you could say M.P. is J.P’s little fuzzball of warm, peaceful, sweet love.

Behind J.P. hangs the many cards of love and thanks from all whose hearts J.P. has touched.

Joy Peace keeps them close to bring her happy inspiration and remind her that she is loved as much as she has loved.

May you all have a beautiful Valentine’s Day and find a card or two filled with words of love, from someone, whose heart you may have touched. Because who wouldn’t want to earn some wonderful fairy wings to help J.P. (Joy Peace) spread the love….

Sweet Heart's Chocolates

Oh my goodness! What day is it? Have I missed my opportunity to get my favorite Lovies something sweet for Valentine’s day?  I better run out and see if I can find them something before it’s too late.

Look there! Can it be? Why yes! It’s Sweet Heart’s Chocolates! Oh thank goodness! Sweet Heart always has her foodie truck loaded with a huge variety of deliciousness this time of year. It’s one of the busiest times for her. She’ll be selling Chocolates of every kind to the ladies and gentlemen with love on their mind.

She has Chocolate Chip cookies, though the chips do appear red and beautifully decorated sugar cookies of white, pink and velvety red. She must, just, have removed a dozen, from her little foodie truck oven. Oh, that warm sweet smell of fresh baked cookies is dancing around in my head. Who wouldn’t want some? Please don’t let them all be gone...to this I would dread!

Sweet Heart has boxes wrapped with colorful foil, boxes with hearts, boxes of hearts, boxes with bows and packages too...so many wonderful choices...oh what should I do?

It seems a Snow Lovie has been shopping at Sweet Heart’s, I see. They have their mittens filled to the cuff. Oh I do hope they left me enough.

I must rush over and get some packages to give to my Lovies before she sells out. If I don’t hurry I’ll be left with a pout.

So hurry! You still have time! Jump on your snow scooter and speed away fast...get over to Sweet Heart’s Chocolates for your Valentine’s Day bag while all her beautiful confections still last….

Rollie Snow

Here comes Rollie Snow! He’s rolling his way into the New Year with his mittens high in the air and his homemade banner floating out behind him.

Rollie is an awesome Arctic activist...he’s always working to create change for the betterment of the Snow Souls world. He may be found working hard to keep the climate cool for all his fellow Snow Souls, or busy out on the snow trails asking other Snow Souls to help him with causes, like, keeping the cost of snow cones down, so that every Snow Soul can afford to fill their chilly snow tummies with these delicious hydrating treats.

He can also be found standing up for the Snow Souls who have difficulties that keep them from being able to speak up for their frosty friends and themselves.

Rollie is unstoppable! He loves to help others with their cares and needs.

So maybe this is the year you become an activist for the things you believe need attention and care...I know many who dedicate their time to the things that they believe are important. Being an activist doesn’t always mean you have to go out peacefully protesting...though this act can be effective.

You can be an activist just by helping a Soul who is in need of care with their health, finances, home maintenance or just needs someone to share time and stories with. Whether you are helping bring kind attention to a major cause or a small cause, get out there and be active...your Heart and Soul will be filled with the feelings of joy, and pure accomplishment. By doing something good for others, you’ll be doing something just as good for yourself too.

Happy New Year! Be an Activist and be Blessed….
